Looking for a Cafe Latte Machine!?

I was just in Eastern Europe on business, and was served wonderful cafe lattes where I was working. The coffees were served in tall clear glasses. It was served with a thick milk foam on top that was a few inches deep. The foam stood up almost an inch above the rim of the glass! The drink was served with long latte spoons to mix the layers of coffee and milk, and for the foam. There was a little depression in the middle of the foam from the machine they used, where people dumped tubes of sugar…best coffee I ever had. I was traveling with someone who said that she saw them using a big machine to make the drinks.

Does anyone know of a machine that makes lattes like this, with the tall stiff foam? Is this an art form, or is it something I can learn to do myself? I’m new to cafe latte.

Can you make a latte out of regular coffee?

I’m really new to the coffee scene. I’m not picky at all but really want to skip on the high prices a coffee house and really enjoy vanilla lattes. Before I start investing in this…is it possible to just put a little coffee and froth milk and add the flavored syrup? Has anyone ever tried that? Would that even come out anywhere close to the same flavor/texture?

I am looking to buy an espresso/latte machine to use at home. I am new to this and have never made my own real lattes with frothed milk before. I am looking to pay around or less, and would like one that I don’t have to buy special pods if I don’t want to. (can be used without pods….or if it does use pods, has the option to use without any pods).
I do live in a big city with plenty of mainstream stores, but wouldn’t mind ordering online either for the right price.

Popular types of coffee and their difference?

I searched for answers for this question before, and I sort of collated this list : Latte, Mocha, Cappuccino, Espresso Macchiato, Espresso con Panna, Macchiato, Americano.
I was wondering if there are any other types of coffee that I haven’t listed and is also well known.

Other than those information above, I’m a complete coffee fool. I have not much idea what’s the difference between all these coffee. Please do inform me of the difference on the amount of coffee and all other important ingredients used (ratios and all that), and more importantly the difference in taste (best if you could give a more detailed description). Please also do rank them according to their bitterness. :)

Also, for flavoured coffee, how much syrup is added to the coffee?

How much is 1 shot of espresso?
How is expesso made (it sounds like it’s liquid, or is it actually coffee beans)?

Why do people steam the milk before adding it to the shots (sounds dumb, I know. I was just wondering if there’s some reason why it can’t be just milk)?

Is latte art exclusive for lattes?
Why does the milk stay on the surface and not blend with the coffee (is it because it’s saturated already?)?

I did come across this term called Flat White. What is it used for and what does it mean?

Oh, McDonald’s has Frappe too. What’s that (taste description and briefly what it’s made from)?
And is Vienna another type of coffee? What’s that (taste description and briefly what it’s made from)? Saw it on the McDonald’s menu too.

I know this is really a lengthy question, but I really want (and kind of need) to know. Thanks in advance, help is really appreciated greatly! :)
